2008 American Eagle winners named

Value-Added Partner Award to be announced at the general session of the Industrial Supply Conference & Trade Fair in Chicago on June 2.

The Industrial Supply Association named the winners of its Value-Added Distributor, Manufacturer, Independent Manufacturer Representative and Corporate Citizenship Awards. The winners of ISA’s most prestigious award, the American Eagle Value-Added Partner, will be announced during the general session of the Industrial Supply Conference & Trade Fair on Monday, June 2, at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare.

Distributor award
T&A Industrial Distributors in Brookfield, Wis., was named the 2008 American Eagle Value-Added Distributor Award winner. The company was recognized for its Value-Added Reporting program that began in 2001. The program defines the value-added activities its salespeople perform for customers and assigns a point value to each activity. Since the program began, salespeople have recorded 2,232 Value-Added reports. As a result of its efforts, T&A was awarded an additional commodity contract from a major customer.

Manufacturer award
Seco Tools Inc. of Warren, Mich., received the 2008 American Eagle Value-Added Manufacturer Award. Its award-winning entry highlighted the relationship between Seco and Morton Welding Co, a production machine shop located in Morton, Ill. Asked to improve production on a tight tolerance transmission component, Seco re-engineered Morton’s process, generating annual cost savings of $195,000. Over the past three years, Seco Tools generated more than $250,000 in documented cost savings for Morton Welding.

Independent Manufacturer Rep award
The Tooling Support Group of North Canton, Ohio, earned the inaugural Value-Added Independent Manufacturer Representative Award. The rep agency for Hanita was recognized for its effort to assist Haggard & Stocking Inc. solve a tooling problem for its customer, M&S Precision Machining in Greensburg, Ind. The Tooling Support Group tested a Hanita high-performance end mill that reduced tooling costs by $3.67 per part, for a total annual savings of more than $73,000.

Corporate Citizenship award
Haggard & Stocking Inc. of Indianapolis earned the 2008 American Eagle Corporate Citizenship Award for its philanthropic efforts in support of several volunteer projects, organizations and missions. The efforts include support of a prison ministry, coordinating vendor donations of supplies and finances to the Henderson Settlement in Frakes, Ky., and the Canali Mission in Hidalgo, Mexico. Employees have also actively supported an adopt-a-soldier program, plus a variety of youth sports organizations and school programs.
